Homemade Breakfast Sausage

May 7, 2014

These aren’t your average Jimmy Dean sausages! You will be amazed at how delicious and easy these are to make. Being on a restricted diet, I’m often very bored with my breakfast routine. It usually includes smoothies or eggs and vegetables. I had some ground turkey I picked up at the market yesterday. It’s very important to buy hormone and antibiotic free meats. Grass-fed is an added bonus, too. It is a bit more expensive, but your health is worth it. Antibiotics, hormones, and grain fed meats are connected to many diseases including cancer. Grass-fed meats are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for your body. Good-quality meats are also way more tasty and fresh! With the ease of this dish, please consider making it for yourself and/or your family!

(paleo, gluten free)
Serves 4-Makes about 8 patties

Ingredients:

  • 1-1 lb package of natural, ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary, chopped(*you can also use 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of herbs de provence)
  • 2 teaspoons raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil or coconut oil-to fry patties

Process:
1. Heat a large skillet(I used a cast iron) to medium-high heat. Add oil.
2. Add meat to a large bowl and add all seasonings. Mix through with your hands.
3. Form patties by packing meat into a 1/3-1/2 cup measuring cup(you will want to pack about half full)
4. Gently tap on a cutting board to remove patty.
5. Fry patties over medium-high heat until meat thermometer reads 165°F(flip halfway through)
6. Serve patties hot with whatever your heart desires!
